SYNOPSIS

Powerful women lead positive resistance in eastern Congo

 

Backup Butembo is an extraordinary documentary that tells the story of extraordinarily strong women in eastern Congo. The region has been the scene of a bloody conflict for over 15 years. A positive resistance is growing in the town of Butembo. The people are trying to regain control of their destiny and lives. When violence increases in and around Butembo, residents do not watch from the sidelines. They sometimes literally walk into danger.
